Livermore in the Running for $1B Fusion Facility🚀☀️

The facility will be considered for construction at a site just south of the Livermore Municipal Airport. (Image courtesy city of Livermore)

💡 Big news for Livermore! Fremont-based Pacific Fusion is looking to build a $1 billion nuclear fusion research facility—and Livermore just inched closer to making it happen. The City Council unanimously approved a proposed site: 225,500 square feet on 14 acres along West Jack London Blvd, just south of the airport.

What does that mean for us? 👉 About 250 new permanent jobs$600K a year in city revenue, and a big boost to Livermore’s spot on the clean-energy innovation map.

So, what’s fusion? It’s the same process that powers the sun and stars—aka a nearly limitless source of clean energy. Pacific Fusion’s “Demonstration System” is aiming for the holy grail: producing more energy than it uses. (That’s the milestone needed before fusion can power the grid.)

Important note: this will be a research facility, not a power plant. It’s designed to be inherently safe, with oversight from CalOSHA and the Department of Public Health.

But here’s the catch—Livermore isn’t the only one vying for this mega-project. Alameda and Albuquerque are also in the running to host Pacific Fusion’s new home.

Livermore already has a rich legacy in fusion science—let’s see if we can secure the next chapter. 🚀

Gyros, Falafels, Music & More at the Castro Valley Greek Festival!

Opa! 🎉 The Castro Valley Greek Festival is back Saturday & Sunday, October 4–5 with authentic flavors, music, and tradition. The legendary gyros and falafels are reason enough to make the trip—but you’ll also enjoy lively Greek dancing, a live band, indoor dining, outdoor fun, a Kid Zone, vendors, and church tours. Just outside the Tri-Valley, it’s well worth the short drive for a weekend of culture and celebration!

I have been to this festival MANY times and I never leave without geting some loukoumades - delicious bite-sized doughnut balls with honey!
