Locanda Amalfi Review: Is the 5th Best Pizza in the World Worth the Hype?

Birthday Dinner + World-Class Pizza in Pleasanton 🍕🎉

We celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday this weekend at Locanda Amalfi in Pleasanton, and wow—what a night. If the kids weren’t already excited about dinner, they were definitely intrigued when I told them Locanda was just named the 5th best pizza in the world at the International Pizza Expo. (Yes, you read that right—and yes, we told you about it first in Tri-Valley Explorer a couple weeks ago! 😉)

Downtown Pleasanton was buzzing on Sunday night, and we scored a perfect outdoor table to soak in the warm Tri-Valley evening. We shared a little bit of everything, and there wasn’t a single miss:

✨ Arancini – Hands down, the best I’ve had. Perfectly crispy on the outside, creamy rice and cheese on the inside, all nestled in a black truffle cream sauce I could’ve slurped with a straw.

🥓 Brussels Sprouts – My kids will never know the trauma of soggy sprouts that most of us grew up with. These were crispy, tossed with bacon, parmesan, and a balsamic glaze. Absolute perfection.

🍕 Pizza – The girls went classic Margherita, while my son and husband went all-in on the Meat Lovers. Happy campers all around—and plenty of leftovers for Monday night. We all agreed: that award wasn’t just hype. This pizza is the real deal!

🦞 Lobster & Asparagus Ravioli with Tiger Prawns – My mother-in-law’s pick and a total win. Rich, flavorful, and perfect for seafood lovers.

🍝 Homemade Spaghetti with Manila Clams & Mussels – This one was mine and I’m still thinking about it. Fresh, garlicky, and light in the best way—exactly how I like my pasta.

I love all the Locanda locations, but there’s something extra special about having three right here in the Tri-Valley—Pleasanton, Danville, and Livermore—each with its own Italian charm and menu gems.

If you haven’t been in a while (or ever), consider this your sign. Locanda is serving up something special—birthday or not. 💫

Family Campout in Dublin - 3 Dates this Summer!

Camp Under the Stars—Right Here in Dublin! 🌟⛺

You don’t have to go far to enjoy a little outdoor adventure this summer! The City of Dublin is hosting three Family Campouts in local parks, and it’s such a fun way to spend a night under the stars without all the hassle of a big camping trip.

All you need to bring is your tent, sleeping bags, a few basics—and a sense of adventure! Dublin takes care of the rest, including dinner, breakfast, campfire fun, games, arts & crafts, and yes… S’mores. (Because it’s not camping without S’mores.)

Here are the dates and spots:

🗓 June 7–8 at Jordan Ranch Park
🗓 July 12–13 at Alamo Creek Park
🗓 August 2–3 at Schaefer Ranch Park

Each campout runs Saturday 4:00 p.m. to Sunday 10:00 a.m.
Cost is super affordable—$27 for residents, $32 for non-residents.

Movie Nights in Dublin!

Dublin is on fire this Summer for family fun! Pack up a blanket, grab the kids, and kick off the weekend with Picnic Flix—Dublin’s free outdoor movie series happening on Friday nights in June and July!

Each event starts at 6:30 p.m. with games, sponsor booths, and fun activities for the whole family. Movies roll at dusk, so come early to snag a good spot!
